The functions and tasks of the State Legal Labour Inspectorate
The main tasks of the State Legal Labour Inspectorate:

Implementation of the government control to comply with the requirements of law on labour and population employment;
                  
Protection of the rights of subjects of labor relations provided by the labour legislation;

Ensuring the uniform application of the legislation on labour, population employment and development of measures to improve labour relations, the labour legislation and population employment;

Prevention and avoidance of forced labour and discrimination in employment prohibited by laws;

Implementation of public awareness campaign and legal education on the application of the legislation on labour and population employment.

In accordance with the assigned tasks the State Legal Labour Inspectorate carries out the following functions:

1) In the field of implementation of the government control and supervision to comply with the requirements of law on labour and population employment:

Implements the government control of compliance with the requirements of law on labour and population employment by organizations;

Analyzes agreements and local acts on labour, orders of employers on labour relations for compliance with the legislation;

Monitors the compliance with the legislation on labour and population employment within the legally established procedure.

2) In the field of protection of the rights of subjects of labor relations provided by the labour legislation:

Protects the labour rights of subjects of labor relations, including workers, engaged in labor activity in conditions of home-based work, and persons engaged in growing cattle on part-time farms and farms;

Takes legal measures for detected violations of the legislation on labour and population employment for their elimination and prevention of conditions contributing to their emergence;

Provides assistance to trade unions and other representative bodies of workers in the implementation of their rights provided by the legislation on labour, as well as monitors its implementation by their employers;

Considers requests of organizations and citizens regarding violations of the legislation on labour and population employment.

3) In the field of ensuring the uniform application of the legislation on labour, population employment and development of measures to improve labour relations, the labour legislation and population employment;

As a result of examination and checks of the compliance with the labour and employment legislation prepares and submits to the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Uzbekistan the relevant information in the established order;

Prepares proposals on improving legislation on labour and population employment;

Analyzes and summarizes the legislation on labour and employment and materials of inspections for compliance with labour and employment legislation with a view to identifying problematic aspects of legal practice and preparation of proposals for their removal;

Conducts research and analysis of international experience on legal regulation of labour relations and prepares suggestions concerning the appropriateness of their application in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

4) In the field of prevention and avoidance of forced labour and discrimination in employment prohibited by laws:

Monitors compliance with the labour rights and guarantees provided by the law for certain categories of workers (women, minors, students of higher and secondary special and vocational educational institutions, disabled persons relieved from the Armed Forces, etc.);

For each identified fact of forced labour and discrimination applies legal responses and informs relevant public authorities about the facts of legislation violations.

5) In the field of implementation of public awareness campaign and legal education for the application of the legislation on labour and population employment:

Holds seminars, trainings and roundtables for specialists of organizations and for the population;

Conducts public awareness campaigns in the mass media and among the public on labour relations and the application of the legislation on labour and population employment.
