As a result of the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No.1053 dated February 5, 2009, medical equipment and accessories of 59 items, received by the Center in the first quarter of 2010 through a beneficent grant assistance from the Government of Japan were timely installed, personnel was trained for the efficient operation of the equipment and from April 16 to present day it is fully utilized in the operations of the National Center for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics of disabled persons. Such medical equipment and tools, as computed tomography scanner, C-arm X-ray machine, electromyograph, endoscope, arthroscope, fibergastroscope, echcardiograph, electroencephalograph, echoencephalograph, doppler, physiotherapy equipment and devices, simulators for exercise therapy class, medications and devices designed for biochemical laboratory were particularly highly effecient in strengthening the material and technical base of the Center.
Medical equipment and exercise machines are widely used in the diagnosis and medical rehabilitation of patients with disorders of the muscular-skeletal system and neurological diseases, as well as in training disabled persons to the correct use of prosthetic and orthopedic products.
State of the art medical equipment, received through the Japanese grant, such as ENDOSCOPE, ELECTROMYOGRAPH and ARTHROSCOPE are priceless in practical activities of recreation therapists of the Center, significantly easing surgical procedures in removing the spinal disc, knee and hip joint herniation and limb motor disturbances. Whereas, simulators are specifically designed to train people with disabilities.
Of the 110 beds, 50 are specifically made for orthopedic diseases and 10 for intensive care of disabled people. They differ from conventional beds by ease of use and multifunctionality.
Grant-procured medical equipment used in functional diagnostics and physiotherapy departments, as well as in the biochemical laboratory of the Center, allowed improving the quality of diagnostics and medical rehabilitation of the disabled, increasing the number of examinations and the amount of work, reducing the working time of health professionals.
Over the past 5 years, 4 JICA volunteers were successfully employed in the Ministry of Labour system (one of them is a recreation therapist-expert), particularly, 3 of them - therapists in physical rehabilitation of persons with disabilities (Omuro Kazuya, Kenji Takezaki, Minori Kashiwagi) have worked directly in the National Center for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics of disabled persons, which, undoubtedly, has improved the quality of rehabilitation services provided to disabled persons.
Since 2010, employees of the National Center for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics of disabled persons have made more than 80 appearances in the media dedicated to the results of the grant assistance received from JICA and the activities of the Center.
In addition, in 2013-2014, thanks to the beneficent aid of the Embassy of Japan in Uzbekistan to Regional Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Persons of the Republic of Karakalpakstan under the social project, a set of 9 kinds of modern medical equipment (electroencephalograph, 3 channel ECG, X-ray machine, color digital ultrasound system, biochemical analyzer, ultrasonic nebulizer, medical device UHF-60, a surgical tool kit) were provided to the amount of 118,700.0 USD. Also, regional rehabilitation center for disabled persons in Andijan province received under the same beneficent aid and widely uses 21 kinds of high-tech medical equipment, in particular, neuromyograph, electrocardiograph d'Arsonval, portable X-ray machine "Sonomed-325", "Vitafon-2", "Mellon" "Fiziotek-2000", "AMNP-01", "ALMAG-02", "UZT-1.01F", "Amplipuls 5 Br", etc.) to a total amount of 119,490.0 USD.
On March 11, 2015, in Tashkent, a ceremony of signing of the grant agreement by the heads of the Embassy of Japan in Uzbekistan and Ministry of Labour of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in the framework of grant assistance to support social projects to provide necessary modern medical equipment for the regional rehabilitation centers for disabled persons in Navoi, Samarkand and Khorezm provinces.
According to the tender for the projects under the Small Grants Program supported by the JICA Uzbekistan Office (letter dated No.818 dated 06/30/2015), National Center for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics of disabled persons, two project proposals for the acquisition of "Neurosurgical surgery microscope" and "PIO walking simulator" were submitted in August 2015. The developer of the project application is a graduate of month training course (from 17.XI.2009 to 04.XII.2009) by JICA in Japan - Karimov Bahadir Karimovich, Deputy Chief Doctor of the treatment part of the National Center for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics of disabled persons.
